Once upon a time in the mountains of Ethiopia...

There was a shepherd named Kaldi, who took care of his flock with diligence and love. One day, while watching his goats graze among the bushes, he noticed that some of them were particularly lively after nibbling on the red berries of a certain bush. Intrigued by this behavior, he decided to try one of the berries himself.

To his surprise, the berry had an intense and invigorating flavor. Kaldi soon felt full of energy and vitality. Excited by his discovery, he took some of these berries to the nearby monastery, where the monks, experimenting with them, found that the berries helped them stay alert and focused during their long hours of prayer.

The monks, inspired by this revelation, began drying, roasting and grinding the berries to make an infusion they called 'qahwa. This drink became very popular among the monks and spread quickly throughout the region. Over time, the word “qahwa” morphed into “kahve” in Turkish, and finally “coffee” in English.

Thus, thanks to the curiosity of a shepherd and the wisdom of monks, one of the most beloved and popular drinks in the world was born, which to this day provides us with moments of warmth, company and delight.
